
Nancy Blackwell is an award-winning teacher with a masters degree in Education. She has taught at the high school and college level for twelve years in California, both in San Diego and Lake Tahoe. On completion of her teaching credential at San Diego State University, she was voted "Student Teacher of the Year" in 1989. She has been nominated five times to Who's Who in American Teachers.
After eight years of teaching in the Escondido Union High School District she was awarded "Teacher of the Year" while working at Escondido High School. She was then nominated to enter the 1997 "San Diego County Teacher of the Year" which involves 33 districts and over 20,000 teachers.
It was while teaching health and peer helping at the high school level that Nancy first entered the training field, leading weekend workshops for teens focusing on communication skills and healthy lifestyle habits.
For the last five years Nancy has split her time between teaching and being a facilitator for a premiere accellerated learning program, leading youth through brain-based learning strategies. As a facilitator she helps with staff training, overseeing the program, and teaching life skills and academic portions of the program. These include team building, relationship skills and communication skills. Nancy has led these programs at the national and international levels, including locations in Hong Kong, Mexico, Singapore and Beijing.
Nancy has not forgotten her passion for supporting people to live life to their full potential through a healthy lifestyle. She has completed two California AIDS Rides (530 mile bike rides), the AIDS Marathon and the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon (26.2 miles).
A few years ago Nancy decided to take on a new challenge, supporting fellow teachers and trainers. She offers, through workshops, the tricks of the trade which allowed her to become succesful. She created Longevity of Success to give back to her fellow teachers and trainers. "I haven't left teaching. I'm just spreading the wealth and expanding my classroom."
Nancy has served on the Board of Directors for the California Association of Peer Programs for the last six years. This is a statewide organization empowering youth to become leaders on their campuses. Providing vision and leadership for the organization, she has spoken in front of 2,000 students and advisors from all over the state. Nancy is a motivational speaker and lead facilitator.
Nancy is also a certified as a life coach, helping people explore their own potential. |
